VR Reflexion: Compulsion - Case Reports
CME Webinar with Continuing Education Credits
In this CME-certified webinar, psychotherapeutic case discussions focusing on obsessions are in the spotlight. Together, we will take an evidence-based look at the use of Virtual Reality (VR) in obsessive-compulsive disorders and associated complaints.
After a compact overview of the current research on VR-supported exposure therapy for obsessive-compulsive disorders (VRET), we will collaboratively develop practical strategies for selecting and applying suitable VR settings – for example, for exposure, self-regulation, mindfulness, or relaxation.
Using concrete case examples from psychotherapeutic practice, we analyze and discuss indication-appropriate application possibilities and meaningful integration approaches.
In collegial exchange, we reflect on practical challenges, ethical questions, and technical requirements, and we develop approaches for the sustainable and effective integration of VR applications into everyday therapy.

The study shows that virtual reality-based exposure with response prevention (VR-ERP) is similarly effective for patients with contamination obsessions as traditional in-vivo exposures. VR provides a controlled, safe, and well-accepted alternative that significantly reduces anxiety and can minimize therapy dropouts.
