VRET Practice: VR-Supported Addiction Therapy
CME Webinar with Continuing Education Credits
In this CME-certified webinar, psychotherapeutic case discussions focusing on addiction disorders are the main focus. Together, we will take an evidence-based look at the use of Virtual Reality (VR) in substance-related and non-substance-related dependencies.
After a compact overview of the current research on VR-supported interventions in addiction therapy, we develop practical strategies for selecting and applying suitable VR settings – for example, for craving management, relapse prevention, self-regulation, or mindfulness training.
Using concrete case examples from psychotherapeutic practice, we analyze and discuss indication-appropriate application possibilities and meaningful integration approaches. In collegial exchange, we also reflect on practical challenges, ethical questions, and technical requirements, and develop strategies for the sustainable and effective incorporation of VR applications into everyday therapy.
Literature Tip:
The review article demonstrates how VR can be used in the diagnosis and treatment of addiction disorders. VR-based scenarios allow for a realistic confrontation with addiction-related stimuli under safe conditions and open up new options for exposure, craving control, and relapse prevention. The results highlight the potential of VR as an innovative, patient-centered tool in addiction therapy.
